For 2 days I have been trying to search for new skins, and I have a few friends wo want to subscribe to WC but cant access any WC web pages! Is this site down for maintenance? I thought it was my computer, but I went to my friends house to help him get a subscription, and he couldnt access any WC web pages! I am having the same problem with DeviantArt, so I dont know what to do!

Does this have anything to do with WC not being accessable?

The link said:
In regards the connectivity issues with Stardock Central, Stardock.Com, Wincustomize.Com and other sites which Stardock hosts/owns.

At this time, Level 3 Communications and Cogent Communications are at odds. As a result, any net traffic exclusively through Level 3 connections to the Cogent network is not making it to its destination.

We'll see over the coming little bit whether they come to an agreement or other peering relationships are established to bypass to blockage.

The problem is neither on your end or our end. We are unfortunately stuck in the middle.

Finally, a straight answer! So i guess that means WC wont make there 2000 customer goal this month! At least I can stop uninstalling and reinstalling all my web browsers now! lol

It's basically a pissing match between Level 3 and Cogent: Level 3 shut down Cogent's connections because "its arrangement with Cogent is no longer financially viable, since it is larger than the other company" (http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-5889592.html , Para 5). There are many network links down and all we can do in the meantime is wait it out.

If you're connecting through level 3 (can't access stardock.com, wincustomize.com or any other Stardock affiliates), you should look into getting free internet for a year and check out Cogent's website: http://status.cogentco.com/ (I know I am!)

One problem with this - if you can't access stardock, wincustomize or other Stardock affiliate sites, you might not be able to access this thread!

Tech support phone call faux pas:

USER: Hello I am having problems connecting to the internet.
TECH SUPPORT: You will have to go to www.somesite.com and click the link to submit a trouble ticket.
USER: But I can't connect to the internet.
TECH SUPPORT: Well you can always view the link there near the top left corner called Connection Issues
USER: How can I get to that link?
TECH SUPPORT: Direct your browser to www....
USER: I CAN'T USE MY BROWSER TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET!!!
TECH SUPPORT: I see, well then. Send us an email with your current Internet Connection settings....

I guess you can see the point. Just hoping that the companies grow up, stop punishing their customers and get back to doing their jobs! Hope I didn't upset anyone who is frustrated by intermitent connections, or who are viewing this from an alternative connection. I just like to poke fun at the IS industry as a whole. I can do that, I work in it!

Well, seems like one of the 2 companies caved! Nice to see things are running smoothly again!

We should give them a gold star and put their name up on the board.
